OPEN GYMS:

Summer Training Dates:     June 14, June 28, July 12, August 2

Saturday morning runs (OPTIONAL)- we'll meet at the Cook Dr. terminus of the Salem Greenway due to ease of parking and presence of a port-a-john.   We'll start stretching at 8:30 AM and hit the path soon after, so don't be late!  I'll have fruit pops for participants after the run.  Anticipate 1 ½ hours of total time to start with longer by the end of the summer.

 Weekday Workouts:

(OPTIONAL) - we'll meet at the HVHS track at 8:30 AM and focus on threshold runs (you'll hear that word a lot) .  Anticipate 1 ½ hours for these workouts.

Important date for the season:

  1. First day of season - Monday, August 4.  We'll plan on practicing from 4 PM - 5:30 PM until school starts.  Meet at the side door next to the gym.
  2. First day of school - Thursday, August 14.  Same meeting spot.  Middle school should be able to take the activity bus, but I'll have to confirm when that starts running and what time it will arrive.  Parents might need to transport athletes until the bus is going.
  3. Spike Night! - Monday, August 25.  Your chance to get discounts (spikes, trainers, gear, etc) from RunAbout Sports!    We'll head over after practice (5:30 - 6:30).  This is a great opportunity to get gear at a reduced price while supporting a business that supports us (they sponsor Clash and provide bibs for our meets).
  4. Clash with the Titans - Saturday, September 13.  Once again, we'll be looking for help from athletes and parents to support this major fundraiser for our program.  Last year was a huge success with over 800 registered athletes, and I expect an equally large and enthusiastic crowd this year.
  5. Middle School Championships - Wednesday, October 8.  Our 2nd major meet with over 400 middle school runners.

Reminder: To participate in any athletic practice or event, you must have an updated VHSL Sports Physical completed and on file at the school.
